Commentary

As far as breaking of the edges of the board, just put your thumbs near the cut and then bend the board over until it begins to break. You'll have to start at one edge and work along the cut. You could also use a pair of pliars with the jaw closing near the cut. Then just bend the piece over to break it off. You want to try to advoid flexing the useful part of the card if you can.
